Description
Diamox is a diuretic, antiepileptic, antiglaucoma drug. It is used for: edema syndrome of any severity, craniocerebral hypertension, for primary and secondary glaucoma, to reduce intraocular pressure, with mixed forms of epilepsy, to relieve edema caused by taking other drugs, to reduce the time of acclimatization of tourists with altitude sickness.
Composition and analogues of the drug.
The main active ingredient in the composition is: acetazolamide.
Analogues: Dorzopt, Azopt, Diakarb, Trusopt.
How does the drug work?
The drug reduces the reobsarbation of biocarbanates, potassium and sodium ions, increases diuresis, increases the pH of urine.
How to use and dosage.
Tablets must be taken orally. With edema 250 mg 2 times a day. Take 5 days.
For the treatment of epileptic seizures 250-500 mg. per day.
For children from 4 months to a year, 50 mg are prescribed. 2 times.
For children from 3 to 5 years old. from 50 mg divided into 2 doses of 25 mg.
And children over 5 years of age from 125 mg once a day.
In chronic glaucoma 125-500 mg 1-3 times a day.
Apply 5 days.
Side effects and contraindications.
Side effects: drowsiness, taste disturbance, myopia, convulsions, tinnitus, hypokalemia, electrolyte imbalance, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, liver disease, nausea, allergic reactions, urticaria, photophobia.
